Borehole Construction Project - 09OCT09

Due to the urgent need for extra water (current borehole not providing adequate water for the increased needs, we are currently trying to get a borehole constructed through Africa Muslim Agency.

Comments from AMA:
Waterwells are constructed in remote, rural areas in Africa where the ground is fertile and the digging of the well is done by human labour. In South Africa we do not dig these kinds of wells, called surface artesian wells, we only construct boreholes which needs a special borehole company to drill the hole and construct the well. Thereafter either a manual, hand-driven pump is installed or an electric pump that generates water to a tank. The waterwells in Africa are R8000 and the price of the boreholes in South Africa is dictated by the borehole companies we engage with. Thus, the price FROM R35 000 is given on the website. Other factors that contribute on the fluctuation of the price are soil conditions and water availability in the area.

They have found a spot at Orange Farm where water is available and they are ready for construction. The cost for the Orange Farm borehole has been agreed at ZAR 40,000. A few people have already contributed towards it and pictures of it will be posted once its fully constructed and working- takes a few months to construct.
